2001, live in Santa Cruz, California. Wrote one reviewer, "...a two-CD affair full of damn good music. You can hear the crowd sporadically but they just add to the overall energy of the show. The musicians are good at what they do and it is a blast to listen to them..." including a heart-rending version of "Carmelita," a rocking "Good Enough" an affecting "Spookin' the Horses" and an impassioned "Rodeo Boy." 1999 studio recording. The arts magazine Rambles says of this CD, "This is a rock band, no question. 'Blue Tick Hound' is the familiar moonshine ballad with all the detail stripped out of the middle of it. With a series of quick brush strokes, Fred paints the picture we all know from old-time ballads. Moonshiner, revenuer, tracking hounds, it's all there and the framework Fred builds is easy to fill in since we are all so familiar with the story. But there's only one adjective in the first verse, giving listeners a clear and urgent picture. To write songs this clean, this tasty is no small feat. Fred has done a remarkable job of staying true to his muse..." Click here to listen

1997, studio recording. " Finally the long lost son of Bonnie and Clyde has surfaced. He got himself a leather jacket, a guitar and a bunch of dark, sparkling songs and decided to hit the road in his van. On this journey through the highs and lows of life in North America, Eaglesmith is accompanied by his incredible band The Flying Squirrels." "Lipstick makes real musical breakthroughs by throwing some genuine curveballs at the listener. Some of the twists come from Scott Merritt's non-rote production, some come from the players (especially Peter Van Alten's out-there drum parts) but most of it comes from Eaglesmith himself, who allows both his sense of humor and his id to float to the surface. Recorded in 1996, this CD won a Juno Award for Best Roots and Traditional Solo Album. [..]Fred Eaglesmith has made a significant contribution to a new feature on the landscape of American Music. It's not folk, it's not country, it's not rock, although it owes a debt to all three. It is a musical form as American as apple pie, and just as delicious. A mixture of acoustic and electric instrumentation, these tunes grab a hold of you and don't let go.... Fred's clear and simple observations of the world of dirt and grit, the knuckle-busting, pick-up driving mechanics, and cowboys, are hung on a spare but concise musical framework that perfectly accents and brings them to life. Each song is perfect[..] Rambles Click here to listen

1992, 2 CD's boxed set. These songs were recorded at the Town Hall Theatre in Port Dover, ON. The liner notes describe the process as "no mixing, no over-dubs... just two mics and a volume control" in an attempt to capture "what the band sounded like gathered around a campfire or on the front porch." First released on 2 cassette tapes at a time when Fred taped the tapes, photocopied the booklet and built the wooden boxes himself. One of the coolest boxed sets ever. Wooden box 24 x 14 x 4 cm.
